Ep18: Blog comments, messages and stuff

Oct 22, 2014 | Podcast episode, Podketeers

In this episode: In this episode we wanted to talk about some of comments that you have been leaving for us on our Facebook page and comments on the blog. We bring up, corn dogs, the CHOC Walk, a villian's ride and the growler gets filled!

°o° --------------------- °o°

Here’s a YouTube playlist with some of the Sesame Street and Muppet songs referenced in this episode. How many people remember watching Sesame Street growing up and do you remember any of the songs on the playlist?

The characters from Tokyo Disney Sea that we were talking about are these:

Back in the day, the Plaza Inn was called the “Red Wagon Inn”. The corn dog cart is an homage to this old restaurant. Thanks to listener Carole for this great piece of Disney trivia!

Awesome episode you guys! A big thank you for talking about my comment. To kinda-sorta continue with the movie talk and add onto a part of a comment that was made in the ride concept episode. Someone said Tomorrowland is becoming yesteryear. This is very true and Disney has already set into motion to try to change that. (I’m an East coast listener so this is mainly about WDW. I’ve only been to Disneyland once, but in 2002) They’ve been slowly adding in rides that are based off newer movies i.e. Stitch’s Great Escape (RIP Alien Encounter), Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and Monsters Inc Laugh Floor.

This now makes Tomorrowland a more commercialized friendly place. For example, it’s a million times easier for you to get a hold of Toy Story or Monsters Inc merchandise outside of Disney then it would be to get a hold of a Space Mountain or Astro Orbiter merch. These kids now know that “Ooooooo, The Buzz ride is in Tomorrowland. Let’s go There!.” It makes the kids want to go there because they can finally relate to that theme land rather then it be a land of meaningless ride names. (Face it not every kid is going to enjoy The Carousel of Progress)

They’re doing this to rebrand Tomorrowland. You can tell this simply by the teaser trailer ‘Tomorrowland’ directed by Brad Bird. (The Incredibles, UP, Ratatouille) Like you guys mentioned in the ride concept episode, it would be very hard to decide what should stay and what should go when it comes to replacing rides. On one hand a successful business needs to keep moving forward, but on the other you have to be mindful of your older costumers. Anyway, can’t wait for the next episode! Take care!

Thanks again for the great feedback, Kenneth! You have some great points and I completely agree with the part about making things relevant for younger generations. None of us have ever been to WDW (and are terribly overdue) but I’m personally still confused about how Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor fits in to the general theme of Tomorrowland. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Tomorrowland movie will change things at Disneyland, especially considering that the 60th Anniversary is right around the corner. 🙂 How often do you head out to WDW?

I try to go often, but not living close enough to own up to a season pass it have been a minute. Soon enough though I will move down that way to go as much as I would like!
